Don’t hesitate to say hello 👋

I have more than 26 years of experience in Australia in legal and advisory work. I graduated from Deakin University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), completed the Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice, and was admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria as a solicitor and barrister.

My early legal work began in property law. I later initiated a migration law practice within Oates Rennick Lawyers and subsequently founded DLegal. I also established Victory Law as an incorporated multi-disciplinary legal practice.

I have contributed to legal education as a former Lecturer, Unit Convenor at Swinburne University Law School, and as a former law lecturer at Deakin University. In particular, I developed the initial Evidence Law curriculum and tutorials at Swinburne and delivered lectures covering both theoretical and practical aspects of evidence law.

I am the President of LawHelp Australia. I also serve as the host and producer of Channel 31 TV’s LawHelp Australia series, which supports public legal education through accessible media. I serve on the Migration Law Committee of the Law Institute of Victoria and am a Member of the Migration Institute of Australia. I have also served as Treasurer of the Eastern Suburbs Law Association (ESLA).

I serve as President of the Buddhist Council of Victoria, the peak representative body for Buddhists in Victoria, and I am active in community leadership and stakeholder engagement.

Educated at Royal College, Colombo, and later in Australia, I bring a cross-cultural perspective to my work, particularly on migration pathways, international trade, and cross-border personal and commercial interests.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading history, philosophy, politics, and Buddhist teachings, especially where they intersect with ethics and society. My current interest is the relationship between meditation and neuroplasticity, the brain’s capacity to change and adapt.

My background is grounded in a longstanding Sri Lankan family heritage and Buddhist values. My family traces its lineage to the 13th century era of King Parakramabahu II. My maternal grandfather served as Minister for Education and Cultural Affairs in a Senanayake-era government in Ceylon, and my father was a presidential candidate in the 1999 Sri Lankan Presidential Election.

Through DLegal, I lead a legal and advisory practice that supports clients whose personal and commercial activities span multiple regions, with a consistent emphasis on professionalism, discretion, and practical execution.
